The neutrality of the Net continues to debate the USA, and it is in this context that Google has announced its intention to propose tools to the user so that it can control the actions of it’s ISP.
To emphasize certain information flows rather than others, Internet access providers of the USA are tempted by filtering, making hunting for large consumers of bandwidth. With nearly 13 million subscribers, cable operator Comcast, for example, is strongly suspected to have applied such measures affecting the exchange of files via P2P.
The climate is rather tight and therefore it is in this context that Google has indicated its intention to propose a series of utilities dedicated to the audit of the bandwidth of the user, who may actually confuse its ISP . With its multitude of sites including YouTube, it must be said that Google is particularly concerned by the question.
For a subscriber better informed about the activities of its ISP
“We try to develop utilities, software tools that allow users to detect what’s happening with their broadband connection. They can tell their ISP that they are not satisfied with their bandwidth, and that they believe that some services were affected,” said the director of policy Google, Richard Whitt, The Register.
No specific date for the availability of these utilities, and the rest said it was not one day they will cross the Atlantic. Yet, in these times of law Hadopi they would certainly be very welcome in our countries and would ensure once it enters into force planned for early 2009, a general screening is not done which should not be if … If we take the statements by Christine Albanel.
